CHECKPOINT FOR WEEK SIX 2 Checkpoint for Week Six Scenario 1: Violence Prevention in a High-Risk Community The agency reacted well on the enraged husband the first duty is to protect the wife from any more abuse. Pushing the panic button was the first sure sigh of reaction, then the next thing was to make notes on the rage of the husband as you saw it, seeking help and shelter for the wife should be the next possible move to make for her safety. Once a person is in a safe environment and they are beginning to receive the help that is needed the next step is to find out if she really wants to leave the abusive husband or get them both into a program that will help and save their marriage. Keeping families together should also be part of a choice if the marriage can be saved. If I was the social worker on this case I would then follow up on the woman as she begins her
