Doddato November 28, 2007 English 111- Section 5 How the Far North Took Me Further Then I Ever Dreamed There is a point in every young person’s life when they discover the joys of reading. It may have started with Cat and the Hat or even the famous One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish . However, for some of us the joy of reading came much later when we were a little older. This moment came to me when I was the age of ten and read Far North by Will Hobbs. This was the first time a book had been able to take me to another world, and keep me reading from cover to cover. This book sparked my interest in reading and paved the way for many more adventures in my lifetime. Although this book is not the best book I have ever read it, was the first time I had been consumed by a book and been taken to a different world in my mind. During my 3 rd Grade year the school had started up an A.R. or accelerated reading program in the school. I remember I dreaded going to the library and picking out books to read. Why did I have to read?
