Ibarrientos 1 Marybeth Ibarrientos Music 4 Concert Report #2 17 October 2010 Stockton Symphony: Classics II As the program was about to begin, the separation of instruments by type was in use: the large amount string instruments were in the front, few of the percussion instruments were stage- left, woodwind instruments were behind the string instruments, and the brass instruments were in the back of the stage. During this program, I noticed the rich tone of the woodwind and brass instruments as the string instruments had developed its stability. The conductor seemed to be quite vibrant and active with his expression to the orchestra and also, to his audience. The soloist also seemed to be quite talented, for I was amazed by his quickness to the notes of striking accuracy. The opening piece was the Prelude and Liebestod from Tristan and Isolde by composer Richard Wagner. This opening passage set the tonic with the noticeable use of sequencing, developing a rich and bright tone throughout the piece. Opening with the two contrasting themes
