Marybeth Ibarrientos Professor Secor Music 8 12 April 2011 Music and Sports Music and sports are similar in several ways, for both can be performed and played in many ways possible in achieving a certain goal. In music, there are no set rules in composing a piece, other than just setting the timbre or tone of the piece. In sports, for example basketball, there are also no set rules in winning a game. Of course there are boundaries and guidelines to follow by, but there are numerous ways one can get creative in playing basketball or a piece of music. Like in any other piece of music, there must be a performer that has style and talent. Similar to basketball, there are point guards, centers, etc. who also have style in how they shoot, block, and pass. In many variations of music, there is a beginning to a piece of music. Whether the beginning is pianissimo or fortissimo, the dynamics can still be heard. With basketball, the first quarter can be either truly exciting or a bit stagnant. Either way, there are dynamics in a piece
