P a g e | 6 3. CONCEPTUALIZATION AND ALTERNATIVE DESIGNS During our conceptualization phase, we designed and evaluated many different possible components of designs, including the interior and exterior dimensions of different sizes modules, detached and attached mechanism of modules, construction materials, door automatic opening / closing mechanism, etc. Therefore, how to select each component of designs and overcome the difficulties while maintain design’s advantages became our toughest decision. 3.1 Exterior Dimension In order to make the modules be installed together in different configuration and no gaps between adjacent modules, we firstly considered to make the small and medium modules’ dimensions add up to large module’s dimension. After several trials of dimension calculations, it is not feasible to have such a combination with limited material. Later on, as we took the advice from our professor, we sensed a possible solution that make all the modules with the same exterior dimensions and varies
