Unformatted text preview: TASK Creating a Link within a Page Sometimes a web page is so long that it is far easier to create links to the bottom of the page than to scroll down to the place you want to scroll to. It is also useful when there is so much on a page that a certain place on the page can be hard to find unless you create a link to it. PAGE LINKS What Tags do we need? = <A NAME="Part4"> Part 4 </a> <A Href="#Part4">Go to Part 4</a> What does it do? = The A Name tag tells the computer the name and where the link is to, the A HREF is the link to click on to get to the Part 4 in this case </A> is ANCHOR as mentioned before, anchors are required to indicate the spot where a link is placed or anchored to Using the Tag It is important to reme m b er that when using a link within a page, that the Name of the tag must only be letters and numbers and must not include spac e s e.g. Part 4 . Also make sure you use the # symbol in the HREF tag as otherwise your link won't work. Page 46 Page with an 'Jump to' LINK This is how the tags appear in the text editor. The image on the left is the top of a web page and the one on the right is the place where the link "JUMPS TO". Top of web page Bottom of web page This is Where we JUMP TO when we use the link This is how the link appears in the web page. Place your cursor on the link and the cursor chang e s to a hand as a link. When you click on this link, you are taken to the Page 47 3 4 1 2 screen shown on the right. TASK Creating an email Link within a Page Creating an email link is very similar to any other link except when using it; it should automatically open up your email program.
