Recently, private information of iPad owners have been exposed through a security breach that has brought major embarrassment to Apple Company. Because of the said incident, it was speculated that buyers of the cellular-enabled tablet are susceptible to spam marketing and malicious hacking. This was written in an article, “Apple’s Worst Security Breach: 114,000 iPad Owners Exposed.” Sadly, some CEO’s, military officials and top officials were included in the exposure. This happened when an employee of Apple lost an iPhone prototype in a bar. Subsequent to this event, the disclosure of a very exclusive list in the world and a collection of early-adopter iPad 3G subscribers occurred. The list includes thousands of top officials in politics, media and finance. Aside from the elite personalities, information about Rahm Emanuel, one of White House’ Chief Executives, was as well disclosed. The situation got even worst because investigation says that 114,000 user accounts have been revealed because of the said incident. Email addresses and ID for authentication of the subscriber on AT & T network were the essential information included in the exposure. AT &T seemed to be blamed for the slip up which would worsen the relationship of the said company with Apple. This is because the weaknesses of the security were exclusively blamed to AT&T servers. However, Apple assures its users that the privacy of their email addresses to activate their iPads is protected. The incident would obviously complicate the relationship of the two companies that would also affect the decision of the customers of purchasing iPads that is powered by AT&T cellular network. Goatse Security was the group that got hold of the subscriber data. The article states that its name may have come from a famous gross-out Web picture, which emphasized security vulnerabilities 2

AT&T Fights Spreading iPad Fear, it was stated that AT & T has been apologizing for its mistakes about the incident while Apple, its partner, maintains its silence about the issue. It was reiterated in the said article that AT&T is to be blamed because its Web server had weak security controls as reported by Gawker. It enabled security researchers to have an access to email addresses and ICC cellular IDs for the thousands of iPad 3G customers that included high profile officials of
