If I were Ed Jackson, I would answer Kim’s first question by advising her to ask herself the following questions and then answering them; What must be done? Why must it be done? Where should it be done? Who should do it? How should it be done? Kim, you need to gather all the information necessary from all levels of management, and provide information to the upper level managers for their use in planning. You should come up with an effective plan by identifying specific objectives, and what, where, when, and how you will obtain the objectives. The upper-level managers will keep you informed on how to make your plan more practical and workable. You should include your employee’s in the planning process.
