T HE U NIVERSITY OF M ISSISSIPPI L EGAL E NVIRONMENT OF B USINESS BUS 250, S ECTION 6 S PRING S EMESTER 2011 1. Time and Place: Tuesday and Thursday 4:00—5:15 pm Holman Hall, Room 38 2. Tests: I intend to administer three tests over the course of the semester plus a comprehensive, final examination. 3. Final Examination: The final examination will be administered on Wednesday, May 11, 2011, 4:00-7:00 pm. The examination time and date will not be changed because you have two other examinations on May 11; see paragraph 18, below. 4. S CANTRON Test Forms: All tests will be scored using S CANTRON Form 882-E “green” 100-answer sheets. I require that you purchase and deliver to me, prior to the first test, a “6-pack” of S CANTRON answer sheets. Do not open the cellophane wrapper containing the answer sheets. Course Description: The L EGAL E NVIRONMENT OF B USINESS (BUS 250) examines the legal environment of businesses and organizations, with emphasis on current social, political, and ethical forces influencing the law of business. This is an introductory survey of American law, with special focus on business and commercial transactions and the accounting profession. The course offers an overview of the federal and Mississippi court systems and general guidance on procedures, constitutional law, criminal law, torts, contracts, laws pertaining to the accounting profession, and laws governing ownership rights in personal and real property.
