Reading to Respond “Classes Clashing” 1. – Does being a musician make you “yuppie scum”? What is the qualification to be scum? 2. –What kind of town is San Francisco’s Mission district? - Does his age have anything to do with the situation? 3. –He is in the public eye. - Lives in a nice apartment complex, even though he is not rich, makes him look so. 4. It is not a personal attack, it’s a general attack on the wealthy. - Mission district is one of the last blue-collar communities in S.F. - The economy of S.F. has made the homes un-affordable to the blue-collar occupants of this community. 5. People that live in the mission are worried that their homes will be taken and they will be left with no-where to live, because of price of the homes. - Strong point of the nations divide between owners and renters. 6. Closing statement gives hope of keeping the blue-collar community the way it is or once was. 7.
