Course Design Guide COM/285 Version 3 2 Instructor Bio Prof. Valdes has been a sales and marketing executive for top multinational companies. His experience is not only centralized in Puerto Rico, but also in other Central American and Caribbean territories. Currently, he works as consultant in the sales and marketing fields. Also, he is the President of a merchandising service firm named POS Merchandising Group and Vice President of Evenpro Marketing Group company focus primarily on Trade promotions. During the last years, Prof. Valdés has earned awards such as Top Executive of the Year, 40 under 40, and was President of the Sales and Marketing Executive Association- Puerto Rico Chapter. For the last five years he has been appointed as President of the Research Committee for MIDA and responsible for the annual consumer research study named Radiografía del Consumidor. He has a BBA and a MBA in Marketing graduated Magna Cum Laude. He also is one of the few local sales executives who have a sales certification (CSE). Course Description This course introduces students to the foundations of communication in a business setting. Students are exposed to various topics related to interpersonal and group communication within the context of applications in an office or virtual office setting. Students will develop skills in the forms of written communication, including memos, e-mails, business letters, and reports....
