Use the bond energies provided in the table above to calculate the heat (enthalpy) of reaction,  H o for the reaction:  CH 4(g)  + 4Cl 2(g)  -----> CCl 4(g)  + 4HCl (g) a. Write the balanced chemical equation, with all reactants and products in the gaseous state.  CH 4(g)  + 4Cl 2(g)  -----> CCl 4(g)  + 4HCl (g) b. Write the general equation for the heat (enthalpy) of reaction:  H o (reaction)  =  H (reactant bonds broken)  -  H (product bonds formed)
