RECORDS ADMINISTRATORS AND TECHNICIANS 2 Records Administrators and Technicians Records administrators and technicians have very similar job requirements because their job duties require them to keep accurate medical records. Patient charts must be complete in a timely manner, with forms being completed and up-to-date making it important that both record administrators and technician work together to ensure policies and standards are met. A Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) is to ensure patient records are accurate, complete, and information is properly inputted into the computer system. They are proficient in analyzing and assembling patient data, to help with the improvement of the quality care provided to patients and costs. Some RHITs are also cancer registrars. Registered Health Information Administrators (RHIAs) are experts in managing patient medical records and health information. They play the role of a manager by working with
