Japan, Cars, Interactions The impact “will begin to be felt more intensely by global automakers by the middle of next month.” Shortages of an electronic airflow sensor, for which Hitachi Automotive Systems is the largest maker, have already begun to have ripple effects. By readjusting work flow, Peugeot hopes to continue delivering vehicles until the Hitachi plant is running again. The French automaker relies on the Japanese manufacturer's airflow sensors primarily to measure the amount of air sent into the combustion chamber of engines for its diesel cars.
