2 Painting Styles The way at way at which the first painter Jacques-Louis David portrays his era is by representing a great emperor of his time (National Gallery of Art, Washington D.C., 2011). He was a neoclassic, which is is the name given to quite distinct movements in the decorative and visual arts , literature , theatre , music , and architecture that draw upon Western classical art and culture. He did The Emperor Napoleon in His Study at the Tuileries, 1812 (National Gallery of Art, Washington D.C., 2011) . Jacques reflects his era and culture by doing a portrait of Napoleon. The office is on the right-hand first-floor of the Tuileries, with a wooden chair decorated in red velvet and gold embroidery and an Empire style desk on a sculpted stone base decorated with a lion's head (National Gallery of Art, Washington D.C., 2011).
