HIST 1312 Desai Reaction Paper 1 Industrialization Post Civil War Many people think that the main cause of the Civil war was slavery. Although it was an important issue, compromises between the northern and southern states leading to the secession of the Southern States and the formation of the Confederate States of America were the real instigators of the Civil war. The Southern states became so grave about secession that they wrote their own constitution, made new laws, printed their own money, and even elected their own president and vice-president. As the end results of the Civil war, the Southern states joined the Union again, although they were devastated after the combat. Also, plantation system was eradicated and majority of the slaves were freed from captivity and repression and were able to practice their rights. The need for “New South” had emerged since the Southern states were impoverished and deprived. In the Post Civil-War era, the United States experienced most rapid and intensive
