Scientific Taxonomy and Earth’s Biodiversity Paper 2 What are the characteristics that classify all the species which I have selected in the kingdom Animalia ? Well some of the characteristics that apply to all of the species which I have selected are they must hunt and gather their food, whether it is for a larger group or for a single animal alone. Another trait that they all seem to share is the fact that most of these animal prefer much warmer climates than other animals in the animal kingdom do. The two mammals that I chose are the cheetah and the giant panda. What are two or three characteristics shared by the two mammals that I selected? Most mammals including the two that I have selected have two or three characteristics that other animals do not have. The two mammals; which I have chosen both 3 characteristics; the 3 middle ear, hair, and mammary glands. What are two or three differences between the two mammals? The two mammals that I have selected do have some similarities as well as some differences too. The cheetah is faster than the giant panda and the giant panda is much bigger in size than the cheetah is in size. The mammal species that I have selected belong to this order: The cheetah: The giant panda: Kingdom: Animalia Kingdom: Animalia Phylum: Chordata Phylum: Chordata Subphylum: Vertebrata Subphylum: Vertebrata Class: Mammalia Class: Mammalia Order: Carnivora Order: Carnivora Suborder: Feliformia Suborder: Caniformia Family: Felidae Family: Ursidae Subfamily: Felinae Genus: Ailuropoda Genus: Acinonyx Species: Ailuropoda melanoleuca Species: Acinonyx jubatus They are classified under the carnivore order because of the food group that they eat. Two other species that belong to this same order are the coyote and the wolf.
