Ions Water- in all my compartments o Linked to sodium. o In all compartments o Nervous system, kidneys, ADH, alderstone, ANP, BNP o Hypertonic- Greater than 294 mOsm. osmolality of the ECF is elevated above normal. This is because of not enough water. This leads to Hypernatremia. o Hypotonic- less than 280 mOsm. Too much water, leads to intracellular overhydtation and cell swelling. Causing symptoms of hypervolemia and water intoxication with cerebral and pulmonary edema. This leads to hyponatremia Magnesium- an ion inside my nerves o Intracellular, stored in muscle and bones. A cofactor in intracellular enzymatic reactions and causes neuromuscular excitability, often interacts with calcium and potassium in reactions at cellular level and has an important role in smooth muscle contraction and relaxation. o Hypermagnesia- less than 3.0. Skeletal smooth muscle contraction, loss of deep tendon reflexes, nerve function. o
