CH 6 5) Software that is licensed for one computer/user can cause legal issues on a network because of possible copyright protection issues. If 5 users need the software, 5 individual copies must be purchased for each user. Using single-licensed software on a network for multiple users violates this type of copyright issue and could result in termination from your employment, fines and even possible jail time. 7) The two approaches are Dedicated Server LANs and Peer-to-Peer LANs. Dedicated server LANs have computers talking to a server. A Peer-to Peer LAN does not require a dedicated server and the computers act as both client and server. 9) NIC is a network interface card. The NIC connects the network cable to the computer for use. A hub is used to connect network cables permitting computers to connect to a network via the cable(s) and is also used as “repeaters” to lengthen the distance because of the cables maximum distances.
