2 Staffing Approaches for International Management Staffing Approaches for International Management A company can take different approaches to staffing with regards to international management. Two of these that a company could choose are an ethnocentric staffing approach or a polycentric staffing approach. Each has their own advantages for specific situations. This paper will elaborate on each of those staffing approaches and which I would ultimately choose in certain situations. An ethnocentric staffing approach is one way that a company can attack the issue of staffing for international operations. This approach feels that there is a lack of qualified host-country nationals (HCN) as opposed to using parent- country nationals (PCN). The company will place PCNs in high management positions to obtain a large level of control (Sneh, S. 2010). This allows the company to have people in PCNs that
