2 ABSTRACT: The main aim for this experiment was to find the wavelength of laser light incident on single and double diffraction slits. To get the wavelength for the double and single slit, we measured the distance between the minima and the maxima of the diffraction respectively. Diffraction is when a light bends as it passes through a barrier and the light must pass around a region through which it cannot travel. For this experiment we had to set up a laser close to the slit 2.19cm from the opposing wall and a laser beam was passed through the slit perpendicular to the wall. For the single slit length measure, we choose the ingle slit diffraction grating and we recorded the single slit width and shot the laser on the target paper and marked the central

We also did the same for the double slit only that we measured the distance of the first five central maxima to either side of the central maximum. For the single slit we got standard form of average for the wavelength to be 0.380.005m m for the minimae and 0.140.005mm for the maximae . For the double slit the standard form of average wavelength was 0.70.015m m for the minimae and 0.670.019mm for the maximae. Possible source of error for the experiment could have been the result of wrong marking of the distance for the double and single slit on the paper and thus can be considered as a systematic error.
