Define these terms 1. Meisners Corpuscles – Touch receptors. Light, discriminatory touch detected by the palms and digits of the hands and the soles of the feet are provided by small encapsulated nerve endings knwon as Meissner corpuscles. This type of mechanoreceptor is found in abundance within the dermis of hairless skin 2. Lamellar Corpuscles – deep pressure receptors. Respond to stech, vibration of high frequency; rapidly adapting; they have a single dendrite surrounded by a capsule containing up to 60 layers of collagen fibers and flattened supporting cells. 3. Sarcolemma – outer membrane covering of a skeletal muscle fiber 4. Action Potential A stimulus changes the permeability of the neuron’s membrane to sodium ions Sodium channels now open, and sodium (Na + ) diffuses into the neuron The inward rush of sodium ions changes the polarity at that site and is called depolarization A rapid change in the membrane potential depolarization followed by a return to the resting membrane potential.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
