Assumption: ρ ( ~ r ) is a piecewise smooth function (may be discontinuous at material boundaries). Similar assumptions for other properties. Eulerian vs. Lagrangian Eulerian: compute parameters, e.g. , pressure, as: p = p ( x , y , z , t ) (2) Fixed observer in time Lagrangian: compute parameters as p ( t ), following individual fluid particles (actual molecules or small volumes).
