Oocytes removed by either aspiration or slashing follicles. Oocytes selected for quality based on cumulus cell coverage and a uniform ooplasm. In Vitro Fertilization Matured oocytes washed & transferred to fertilization medium. Sperm are thawed, purified, washed, & concentrated. Sperm added to matured oocytes with media containing heparin to capacitate sperm & allow fertilization. Process 12-18 h. Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI) Male infertility cases Inject sperm into cytoplasm Bypasses normal fertilization processes Motility Acrosome reaction Bypassing oolemma Used in many species In Vitro Culture Embryos stripped of cummulus and transferred to culture for 7-9 days....
