Mike Martin Konrad Czynski Hum 320 Lakshmi Reaction I believe that the relationship shared by the two in the story is especially strong in many ways. The importance of family really shines through in this story. On the other hand, I believe that parts of the Lakshmi’s values are changing due to her new environment in America. Lakshmi thinks very little for herself, but a lot for her family. She at the same time seems discontented at the men all getting together to play cards, regardless what else is going on in their family life. This is commented on by Rukimi “Sometimes you think they care more about the game than about us.” From various things including this incident, the reader can tell that the woman is as of late slightly unhappy, if not greatly with certain aspect of her new life after leaving Hyderabad for America. When Lakshmi first met the librarian, there seemed to be sparks. When she shook is hand when first meeting, she was nervous, or perhaps she felt embarrassed due to the strange feeling she was feeling about this unknown man. She quickly had
