1. CheckPoint: Characteristics of Orientalism, Prejudice, and Discrimination Arabs people are people that live in or are descendants of the countries that comprise the Arab world. These are the 22 nations of North Africa, and also the Middle East. The Arabic language unifies the Arabs but now all Arabs can speak or read Arabic. Although some Arabs are Muslims the two are completely different. Muslims could be anybody that practices Islam as their form of religion. From what I have found the United States has not done anything good in the way of their policies concerning treatment of Muslims and Arabs. Of course there are laws in place against discrimination toward any religion or race. I did find one report states that the FBI would be allowed to use race and ethnicity when opening an investigation. (Abdus Satter Abdus-Satter-Ghaza-080703-362.html) It also basically states that everyone is a suspect until proven guilty which isn’t new; that is the way it is with our government.
