Chapter 2: Traditional Transmission Media 1. What are the five traditional transmission media this chapter discusses?  List one advantage and  one disadvantage associated with each media.  -Twisted Pair --  Advantages : high availability, low cost to install, low cost for moves, adds,  and changes.   Disadvantage : limited frequency spectrum, limited data rates, short distances  required between repeaters, high error rate. -Coaxial Cable --  Advantage : broadband system, greater channel capacity, greater  bandwidth, lower error rates, greater spacing between amplifiers.  Disadvantage : problems  with the deployment architecture, bidirectional upgrade required, great noise, high installation  costs, susceptible to damage from lightning strikes. -Microwave --  Advantage : cost savings, portability and reconfiguration flexibility, substantial  bandwidth.   Disadvantage : line-of-sight requirement, susceptibility to environmentally
