Unformatted text preview: Chapter 7 Review Questions 1. Describe the two ways of configured leased lines. a. Point-to-point leased lines -- a communications link joins two nodes and only two nodes. The good thing about this setup is that there is no contention, the two paths always have an available communications path. The disadvantage is that when the network starts to grow. There is then a greater distance between the locations or there are many more devices. b. Multipoint leased lines -- has a shared communications facility, and multiple nodes that need access to the communications link. The advantage of this configuration is that it combines mileage, so the monthly cost is reduced. The disadvantage is that it requires some type of intelligent scheme that can determine which device gets to use the communications pathway, since all of the nodes can do so at one time....
