Unformatted text preview: The genre I chose for the “open mind” journal entry is country. For the past three days I have been playing a song by Star De Azlan named “A Man Who Can Dance”. Country is the one type of music that I had never been able to enjoy no matter how much I tried to listen to it. The first time I played the song in my iPod I remember thinking how much longer until it ended. I felt as if I was being tortured and I no longer wanted to do this. the moment that i had the urge to turn the music off ,it’s the instant I realized that I hadn’t approach this with an open mind as much as I had thought. At that moment I knew that it was harder for me to listen to it because I had already convinced myself it was going to be an awful experience before I even did it. To change my reaction I needed to change my mentality. As I continued to listen to the song with a new mind set I noticed that my appreciation level had increased. I was now listening to the song without the feeling of rushing right through it so it could all be increased....
