Ethical Dilemma – Choice 2 In this particular dilemma all three Primary Schools of Ethics could be used but to focus on two I would have to choose Deontological (rule-based) theories and Consequentialist (end based) theories. These two theories seem to be the best to talk about. As said in the “How Good People Make Tough Choices” article, the first line is very true; “All of us face tough choices.” With that being said when a married couple is faced with a choice that will impact their lives forever, they chose the high road and in the end we rewarded back the custody of their child. During reading the dilemma I personally would have to agree with the courts on this decision. I would have to say that here in this dilemma that the courts are following the rule- based theory because this theory focuses on duties and rights. In this case the parents, being addicted to drugs, did their duty. What I mean by that is they went through a rehabilitation program and once they finished that they went straight to the courts to regain custody of their
