Case Study a) Originally manual IS’s were used but as business increased a minicomputer was installed to automate applications. I would say the company went this way because manual IS’s can only handle so much information whereas a minicomputer can handle more. A company-wide database and application was developed to improve it’s IS’s. b) SAP (Systems, Applications, and Products in Data Processing) can obtain open- source software or they can use in-house staff to develop the system. An enterprise-wide system will usually contain software to support many different tasks in an organization rather than only one or two functions. c) Required Skills: Interpersonal Skills a. Communication is not just reports, telephone conversations, and interviews. It is people talking, listening, feeling, and reacting to one another, their experience and reactions. b.
