I believe it’s pretty cool that the places we’ve been, things we’ve seen, and experiences we all have all make us unique as individuals. It’s a process that we all go through and the results from this process are always visible through a person’s actions. I am no different from these trials and practices; just last spring, I went with my classmates up to New York City. While on this trip, I’ve learned so much firsthand about myself and my country that I never believed I could see. Going to the City of New York has quenched my desire to travel in ways I’ve never experienced. One way this has happened was by educating me of important topics, such as the significance of boats in this country and how they were the beginning gateway for millions of immigrants in the United States during the 19 th and 20 th Century. Ever since I was a little boy, I’ve always been fascinated by cities. Skylines, big buildings, and bustling crowds of people have always drawn me to come within the mist of its chaotic atmosphere. I’ve been to Washington DC, Atlanta, Jacksonville, Indianapolis, Orlando, Miami, Philadelphia,

Charlotte, Detroit, Birmingham, Chicago, and Tokyo. Despite this, none of these cities have been able to fill me a new picture and perspective like New York has; whether its just by the shocking number of skylines and individual buildings it can call their own, the staggering amount of people it holds (8 million residential, 2.5 million tourists daily), or by the sheer power of its reputation, New York has taught me the wonders that exists in the United State’s largest city. Because of this, not only am I enrolled in an “American Cities” course here at the University of Kentucky, but I’m also planning on living in a dominant city when I get my Bachelor’s Degree and get out of college. Doing so would give me great opportunities for career searching, various artistic activities, such as
