“The Tank Man” began by breaking down the historic event that happened in Tiananmen Square of Beijing, China in June 1989. As I was watching this, I realized that prior to watching the movie, I’ve heard of the “tank man” only once in my life, as well as only knowing vaguely about the incident that happened. I was pretty flabbergasted when they showed about the prior event, where the government sent truck raids of soldiers to stop protesters. However, the citizens clogged up the roads gave them water, called them brother soldiers, and had their children sob them up, which made the militant forces leave. But then, the retaliation of the government forces was the June 3-4 massacre; I was astonished to see protesters alongside innocent men, women, and students were manhandled, severely wounded, and executed on the spot, as captured by many cameras and eye-witness accounts. One woman in the video described that the bullets they used to fire on citizens were the type they use in war; the size of a grown man’s thumb, and
