Darius Owens PS 212-001 Good afternoon everybody, my name is Vuong, and I will be your tour guide today of this wonderful country of Vietnam. It is located in Southeastern Asia and neighboring countries are Cambodia, Laos, and The People’s Republic of China. The bodies of water it borders are the Gulf of Thailand, South China Sea, and the Gulf of Tonkin. The climate here is divided within the northern and southern parts of the country. While the south usually experiences more tropical weather, up north it is usually monsoonal, with hot, rainy season being May to September and a warm, dry season from October to March. It’s always hotter in the Plains and South than in the Mountains and the North. It is around 128,000 square miles, so you could describe Vietnam’s land area to be larger than Italy and almost the size of Germany. Vietnam has a population of over 90 million people. Within that, the capital city, Hanoi, has 6.5 million people, and the largest city, Ho Chi Mihn City (also known as Saigon), has around 7.2 million people. For much of this country’s history, Mahayana Buddhism, Taoism, and Confucianism Philosophy has influenced the religion of the people. Today, there are around 85% of people who practice Buddhism, 8% practice Christianity, with around 6 million Roman Catholics and less than one million Protestants. Muslims and Hindus
