All my life I have been surrounded by diverse educational settings. My both my mom and dad were in the military, and moving often has given me insight on the different cultures between individual U.S. States and other nations. They were both retired by time I was in middle school, but even though we stopped moving around, the multilingual and multicultural education I’ve been receiving kept coming. Since my acceptance as a freshman into Tallwood High Global Studies and World Languages Academy, I have been further exposed to many new educational and cultural experiences that have significantly increased my global awareness and diversity. Throughout high school, I engaged in Video Conferences with notable people from places such as Archbishop Desmond Tutu from South Africa, Holocaust survivors from Germany, Forrest Whitaker discussing child-soldiers from Uganda, Michael Douglas speaking with us on nuclear disbarment, and governmental leaders from Egypt, China, and Afghanistan.
