CONFLICT ANALYSIS AND HOW I WOULD HAVE HANDLED THINGS 1a. Who was involved in the conflict? What was the relationship between the participants prior to the conflict? Did it appear as if the relationship between the participants had any impact on how either person responded to the conflict? A friend of mine at work named Madison and a customer were involved in this conflict situation. Prior to the conflict there was not a relationship it was only guest and cashier, and it had started right when the guest came into the café to eat. Yes the incident was not expected by the cashier so she responded with surprise and irritation. Madison was unaware of what she should do to keep this guest in control. Madison felt as though she had done nothing wrong and the guest had just gone off for no reason at all. 1b. When and where did it take place? Was it formal or informal? Planned or unplanned? What impact did the location and time have on the outcome? This incident took place at the church café where I worked. I believe it was around November of 2010 when this incident had occurred. This incident was informal there was first person talking, there was also obvious feeling in what these two people were saying. Also it was in a pretty laid back environment that both of the people involved in this conflict had been going to for several months. So in my opinion it was a place both Madison and guest felt comfortable at. I believe this conflict was unplanned. It was unplanned by Madison but it may have been planned by the guest because she had walked into the church upset and I think that since her day was going bad she felt as though something could happen but she was unaware where or to whom but it was planned by one and not planned by the other. I think the location had a big influence on the outcome. Since it was at a church I think that the outcome could have been a lot worse but instead of getting too bad the guest came to a realization that she was at a church and Madison realized that she was at work so it made the outcome come a lot quicker. 1c.
