The Discovery of the Internet 2 THROUGHOUT TIME THE INTERNET HAS BECOME ONE OF THE BEST RESOURCES IMAGINABLE Many people use the internet but what is it really and where does it come from and who helped find it? It took many years and people to discover the internet. Is life different now since the discovery of the internet? Prior to the internet, life was very different, and now life has been made much easier by the use of the internet. Through the discovery of the internet life has been made simpler and through the hard work by many people, throughout the years the internet is a great resource for human life. The internet is a worldwide collection of computer networks that cooperate together with each other to exchange data using a common software standard. Internet goes through telephone wires and satellite links (Centerspan Internet Tutorial, 2002). There are two components that make the internet work. First there is hardware there are wires, routers, servers, cell phone towers, satellites, radios, smart phones and many other devices. Together these devices create networks (How Stuff Works, 2011). Networks are two or more computers connected so that they can communicate with each other and share information and process power (Haag, S. Cummings, M. Rea, A. , 2002). The internet is a very adaptable system. It changes in little ways as people join and leave networks around the world. Also when people are searching the internet for information or other services the machines that store the information they are reading or searching for are called servers. There are also things called nodes which serve as a
