The benefits of government funding are that it provides the necessary funding needed for various research programs. Government funding provide Medicare for the elderly and Medicaid for children of low income families and pregnant women. The drawbacks of government funding are people abusing the system. There may be a mother for example taking her child to the emergency room because he fell down and skinned his or her knee. The benefits and drawbacks in programs such as unemployment insurance are people collecting unemployment and not actually looking for work. A person receiving workmen compensation only pretending and prolonging his or her health problems to receive more of what he or she consider to be free money....
