Business Research Methods Part I 2 Standardized Testing Team A’s paper will focuses on standardized testing used by the U.S. Department of Education, in particular, standardized tests, the effect on the education system, and the dilemma it causes for educators, parents, and students. As with all Sstandardized tests, there is a potential for bias. are created with bias. Our assertion is that there is an inherent bias surrounding standardized testing. Because of this bias, standardized testing will never have the desired effect of improving the education of our children, and potentially will have the opposite effect. This dilemma focuses on standardized testing and how they affect both male and female students. Which gender does better on standardized testing? Does ethnicity and socio-economic status play a part in the testing? “With standardized testing everyone is marked on the same scale” (Education and Politics, 2011). With the passage of the No Child Left Behind Act (NCLBA), the public eeducation ssystem was forced to place great emphasis on standardized test results because of the Government’s belief that standardized testing is an effective measurement of learning “with standardized testing everyone is marked on the same scale” (Education and Politics, 2011).
