UNIVERSITY OF ASIA AND THE PACIFIC   1 ST  SEMESTER COLLEGE OF ARTS AND SCIENCES BIOLOGY LECTURE (CAS 403) Topic:  THE SCIENTIFIC BODY OF LIFE THE PROCESSES OF SCIENCE 1. DISCOVERY SCIENCE / DISCRIPTIVE     -Describes some aspects of the world and use inductive reasoning to draw general  conclusion from specific observations Example: Scientists have described new born flying foxes cling to their mother’s chests for the first weeks  of life. 2. HYPOTHESIS DRIVEN SCIENCE     -Uses the scientific method      * they propose a hypothesis      * they make deductions leading to predictions       * then they test the hypothesis by seeing if the predictions come true      * depending on the outcome of the experiments they may accept or reject the  hypothesis What is Deductive Reasoning?  - it is a type of reasoning that came from a GENERAL OBSERVATION to a more SPECIFIC

Hypothesis: Maybe I dont have enough load Prediction: Of my hypothesis is correct then Experiment: RELOAD Predicted Results: I can make a call again Independent Variable: No Load Dependent Variable: Cant Text or Call CONTROL GROUPS - must be tested with experimental groups for the meaning of the results to be clear @moo.bio_lecture...
