Define the Baroque style of art and use examples from painting, poetry, and architecture. Be sure to highlight the Baroque aspects of each example. The Baroque style brought a new aspect to people to look at something in a different way. Caravaggio was a painter who used strong contrast of light and dark to make the painting seem as if it’s popping out of the picture at you. His painting gave you a sort of feeling as if you were included in them. Being up against such a dark background as he used in The Crucifixion of Saint Peter , it gave the viewer a more sensual feeling like you could reach out and touch the people. His paintings are more theatrical, like in the Deposition from the Cross; the faces all have very dramatic expressions.
