Unformatted text preview: ECS 30 Homework #1 Winter 2011 Instructions: Due: 4:00pm, Wed, January 12 , Put the solutions to questions 2 onwards in a unix file named hw1.txt , using vi (or your favourite editor) and submit using handin. It should be handed in as “handin cs30a hw1 hw1.txt” Grading Policy: This home work carries 10% of the total homework credit. Question 1 carries 10% of the total credit for this homework. The rest will be chosen for grading randomly: We will randomly choose some number of questions from questions 2 onwards to grade, and your entire grade will be based on your solutions to those questions. Also bear in mind that midterms and finals are strongly based on homeworks, so take care to make sure you understand the concepts, and do them yourself. You are of course welcome to ask TA’s and me for help during office hours. 1. Make a file hello.txt with the contents: “Hello, Dear TA! I am an ECS30 student, my name is <your name here>.
