Spot the Logical Fallacies - Discussion On the left are the fallacious arguments; the explanation of them is on the right. The feminist argument that pornography is harmful has no merit and should not be discussed in college courses. "The feminist argument . . . has no merit"=hasty generalization/ overstatement. There is no such thing as a single, definite feminist argument about pornography; feminists themselves are radically divided on this issue. Furthermore, such an extreme rejection makes the writer seem intolerant and puts him or her in a logically vulnerable position, as showing pornography is harmful in any way will undermine this claim. "Should not be discussed in college courses" = unrelated to the arguments that follow, so this is missing the point. I read "Playboy" magazine, and I don't see how it could be harmful. Hasty generalization from "Playboy" to all porn (not all porn is the same) and from arguer's own experience ("I read it") to a general response. "I don't see how"=appeal to ignorance Feminists might criticize me for looking at porn, but
