Topics include a sample of cryptography, discrete mathematics, game theory, logic, statistics, and financial mathematics. This course does not require the student to have taken MGF 1106. The instructor has taught the course three times in the past, each time significantly different from the others. This semester, the instructor will be attempting to integrate those experiences into one. The goal of the course is to quickly cover a variety of mathematical topics which will… 1) Review Mathematical Ideas that every College Graduate should be exposed to. 2) Expose student to mathematical concepts outside the MAC sequence 3) Exercise students critical thinking and problem solving skills 4) Have a little fun, if possible, with math. Textbook: YOU DO NOT NEED TO BUY A BOOK! The instructor is not requiring or even suggesting the purchase of the textbook officially listed for the course. The instructor will be providing you with all the materials via the website. If you would like a textbook to reference, the instructor is pulling content from the following sources: 1) Using and Understanding MATHEMATICS, A Quantative Reasoning Approach 5 th ed. By Bennett and Briggs 2) For All Practical Purposes, Mathematical Literacy in Today’s World 7 th ed. (numerous authors)
