BUS 499 – Leadership and Organizational Behavior Spring 2011 Prof. Michael (Mike) Petty Friday: 6:00pm – 9:45pm Basis of course: Syllabus (on eCompanion) Hitt, M. A., Ireland, R. D., & Hoskisson, R. E. (2011). Strategic management: Competitiveness and globalization, concepts and cases: 2011 custom edition (9 th ed.). Mason, OH: South-Western Cengage Learning. Structure of course: One/two chapters per week (13 chapters) Five case analyses – written assignments o Cases will require different formats (PowerPoint or APA-style written report) o Read assignments carefully and answer rubric questions with reference to chapter topic Class structure: o Lecture < 25% ( lectures on the entire chapter will not be given ) o Class discussion > 75% Grade structure – case studies 16%-18%; class participation 14%. Expectations: Everyone earns an “A” (an “A” is yours to lose!) Attend every class Be prepared – read assigned chapters before class
