1. Consider technology’s relevance to nursing. Why is technology something nurses should examine, analyze and make recommendations for or against? An article in American Nurse Today this month discusses a roundtable held to discuss the role nurses have in technology decisions. Nurses should be involved in all aspects of technology selection and implementation for a healthcare facility. Allowing nurses to examine and analyze potential technology for a facility will lead to technology nurses will use. Nurses can provide input on what is needed in potential technology to mesh with the current workflow. Nurses are interested in technology advances that can help patients and/or prevent disasters before they happen. ("Nurse leaders discuss the nurse's role in driving technology decisions," 2010). 2. Identify and briefly describe two (2) informatics tools to support nursing practice. (Please avoid multiple duplications.) Discuss how they promote and insure patient safety. AirStrip Technologies has designed mobile OB monitoring devices.
