Assignment 4 – Part 1 There are many different advantages and disadvantages when it comes to teacher strikes. The biggest step within the process that obviously comes to mind is the fact that at that particular point in time; students are not being taught. It is a big point on the situation; however, people need to look at it as if it is any other type of working strike. Teaching is a job just like working at a plant or in a hospital. Yes, these individuals are educating our children, but they also have the right to demand fair treatment and wages. It is unfair of others to demand these individuals to go back to work if they are not being properly compensated or what have you. So, the fact that the kids are not being taught is a big disadvantage to the situation, but the biggest advantage can be what the teachers actually accomplish in the end. Now, at the same time, reputations could be hindered as well. After a strike, depending on what the cause, teachers could possibly be looked upon in a lower light in the local community.
