Information System Business Dimension The three dimensions to business problems are; Organization, People, and Technology. Typical organizational problems include poor business process which is usually inherited from the past, unsupportive culture, political in-fighting, and changes in the organizations environment. Typical technology problems include insufficient or outdated hardware, outdated software, incompatibility of old systems with new technology, and insufficient database capacity. Typical people problems include employee training, difficulties of evaluating performance, legal and regulatory compliance, ergonomics, poor or indecisive management, and employee support and participation. The term information system has been around a lot longer than a computer, or the term information technology. These days the two are often thought to be the same but this is sometimes incorrect. Information Technology falls under the information systems umbrella but has nothing to do with systems per say. IT deals with the technology involved in the system. Servers, server operating systems, web-server software, and code for web-server software are all information technology. Even your computer and browser make up a part of this information system.
