Stat 665 (Spring 2011) Kaizar Homework 6 Due at the beginning of class, Friday May 20 . Aim of Homework : To apply, evaluate and interpret logistic regression models for categorical responses and either categorical or continuous expanatory variables. Reading : An Introduction to Categorical Data Analysis, 2nd edition: Chapters 4 and 5 Exercises : 1. Logistic Regression with Continuous Explanatory Variables Agresti Exercise 4.8 I’ve posted the data on the course website. Below is code to read it into R and create some useful variables. crabs<-read.table("crabs.csv", header=TRUE, sep=",", skip=1) crabs$anysat<-ifelse(crabs$satell>0,1,0) crabs$wtkg<-crabs$weight/1000 2. Logistic Regression with Categorical Explanatory Variables Agresti Exercise 4.9, parts a-d. Potentially useful code is below. The glm function will automatically make appropriate dummy variables for a variable type “factor”. crabs$colorfactor<-as.factor(crabs$color)
