Textbook: Probability , by Jim Pitman, ISBN 038797974-3. Material: At very least, we will cover as much as we can of Chapters 1 – 5 of the above book, plus some of the appendices. We’ll skip around a little. Calculators: Scientiﬁc calculators can be used, but no graphing calculators will be allowed during the exams. Grading: We will have 2 in-class tests, each of which will count 25% of the grade, and a cumulative ﬁnal worth 30%. The remaining 20% of the grade will be determined by homeworks. Do not expect a curve. Partial credit will be given to partial solutions if they are on the right track. Of course every student is expected to do his/her own work.
