Course Syllabus Probability, Summer 2011 Instructor: Dr. Dan Warren Math 530 Section 20951 [email protected] MWF 2:30 PM Office: 714 Math Tower (MW) SM 2150 (614)292-5013 Prerequisites: Math 254, Calc IV. Web Page: http://www.math.ohio-state.edu/ warren/530/ – Here I will post copies of home- work assignments, test dates, and other pertinent information as it comes up. Textbook: Probability , by Jim Pitman, ISBN 038797974-3. Material: At very least, we will cover as much as we can of Chapters 1 – 5 of the above book, plus some of the appendices. We’ll skip around a little. Calculators: Scientific calculators can be used, but no graphing calculators will be allowed during the exams. Grading: We will have 2 in-class tests, each of which will count 25% of the grade, and a cumulative final worth 30%. The remaining 20% of the grade will be determined by homeworks. Do not expect a curve. Partial credit will be given to partial solutions if they are on the right track. Of course every student is expected to do his/her own work.
